Help for Rossendale Rays

£2000 donation in February 2023 to help purchase a large, specially-adapted trike for children with special needs.

Rossendale Rays Special Needs Sports Club (locally known as Rossy Rays) started in 2005 with Sunday afternoon family fun swimming sessions at Marl Pits. In recent years they have branched out to offer a large range of sporting activities to members with special needs, but also to their able bodied siblings and parents, so that all the family can enjoy the activities.

With massive support from Rossendale Leisure Trust, the Rays organise swimming at Marl Pits pool, cycling on the track at Marl Pits, snow tubing and skiing at the ski slope, and trampolining at what used to be Fearns school. They have several hundred families on their database, and for many of them the Rossy Rays sessions are the highlight of the week.

It costs at least £25,000 to operate every year and they are entirely self-funded, so Rossendale Rotary are delighted to have been able to support this extremely worthwhile facility. You can follow their activities on their Facebook page at Rossendale Rays | Rawtenstall | Facebook
