Step into Summer Tea Party a great success

Skipton Craven Rotary Club, supported by Skipton Step into Action, held another of their ‘Step into Summer’ tea parties on 21st May for the vulnerable and lonely.

Held at the Greatwood and Horseclose Community Centre, 56 guests enjoyed an afternoon tea comprising of sandwiches, cakes and freshly baked scones with jam and cream.

This was followed by musical entertainment provided by Jamie Squire and his talented 14-year old son Jasper.  It was great to see many of the guests quietly singing along to some familiar tunes.

The afternoon ended with two games of the ever-popular Bingo, followed by a Grand Draw.

David Squire, lead organiser of the event said:

“This was the first event that we have organised in conjunction with some of the Volunteers from our partner charity, Skipton Step into Action, since we signed our Partnership Agreement last month.  It was a pleasure working with them, bringing new ideas so as to make the event such a success.

Also,  thanks must go to all those who helped us on the day and especially to Ray Marfell and Steph Hey from Scoff Cafe who worked tirelessly from 11am to to 2.00pm preparing the sandwiches and scones; and to Yorkshire Housing for free hire of the community centre."
