SUPPORT FOR EEG MACHINES FOR UKRAINE
TeleEEG is a northeast based charity whose remit is to enable high quality EEG services to assist in the diagnosis of epilepsy. As part of their work, they are currently helping to re-enable epilepsy clinics throughout Ukraine. This particular project involves the provision of EEG machines, training of local staff and remote interpretation of EEGs. Durham Elvet Rotary was proud to support their work with a donation of £1,000 towards the cost of EEG equipment being deployed.
4 EEG machines have now been donated and deployed in person by the TeleEEG team to hospitals in Ukraine and 10 staff there have been trained on basic EEG electrode application, running the EEG and uploading information to a server for remote interpretation.
Beneficiary hospitals are:
- 1st Territorial Medical Union of Emergency and Intensive Care – Lviv
- Institute of Neurology, Psychiatry and Narcology of the National Academy of Medical Sciences – Kharkiv
- Kharkiv City Hospital Intensive Care
- Kyiv City Psychiatric Hospital
TeleEEG volunteer teams from Kharkiv, Kyiv and Lviv arrived at the sites despite being interrupted by the disruptions caused by the ongoing conflict.
