Rotakids District Conference 2023

University of Cumbria, Lancaster

District Conference for Rotakids

Three Rotakids groups from Irthington, Rockcliffe and Warwick Bridge schools have been busy attending the Annual District Rotakids conference.  Over a hundred youngsters from primary schools across Cumbria and Lancashire were present at the Conference which was held in the University of Cumbria building in Lancaster.

The Rotakids enjoyed a range of activities during the day.  The sessions included Beekeeping, Bug Nests, Drumming, Lifesaving, Seed Planting, Sign Language and Water Safety.

As part of the closing session, District Governor of Rotary in Cumbria and Lancashire Kath Bromilow handed out Rotakids Citations to groups that had met at least three of the citation criteria. The Citation recognises the Rotakids efforts in the community.  Irthington, Rockcliffe and Warwick Bridge Schools received one, along with Hayton School who were unable to attend the Conference.

Mark Harrison, Teacher from Irthington School said “Thanks for today, the children were high as kites when we returned about all the fun activities, they absolutely loved it!!”

RotaKids was set up to support the development of children's self-esteem and community service ethics by introducing Rotary concepts of service, understanding and citizenship.
