Nov 2012 Rotary Youth Speaks Public Speaking Competition hosted by St Bedes 4.15-7pm

The local area heat of the Intermediate annual national Rotary Youth Speak Competition for pupils in years 7-9 run by the club. (The District heat will be held on 2Mar13, the Regional heat on 16Mar13, both in the East Anglia region). Thank you St Bede's !


The Winners Shield is to be officially presented by President Elect Bob to the winning team at the school assembly 9am Tue 18th December 2011.

Winners this year were St Bede's Team 1 who eloquently pleaded for more awareness of what Fairtrade products are all about and encouraged us all to buy them.

Refreshments (Fairtrade) were kindly laid on by the school.

This annual National Rotary Competition encourages young people to polish their public speaking skills, together with their abilities to put together persuasive arguments.

Teams of 3  (Years 7 - 9, 12 -14yr olds) from secondary schools around the area compete against each other. Expert judges listen carefully to the arguements put forward and award the prizes.

The winning team will go on to the District competition, from where winners go forward to Regional and National finals, sponsored by the club.

The three emminent Judges were :

Mike Lang - Experienced retired Headteacher.

Sue Dougan - BBC Radio Cambridge presenter.

Frances Brownlie - trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and has spent over 50 years teaching drama to all ages from 6 years of age to adults. www.skybluetheatre.com
