Mar 2013 District 1080 Finals for Rotary Young Chef

The District finals for Rotary Young Chef were held at Ipswich and shared the venue with Youth Speaks. The club sponsored an entry, 9.15 to 2.00pm.

The District Finals in two of the national competitions for young people organised by Rotary - Young Chef and Youth Speaks - both competitions run at the same venue on the same day. The Youth Speaks Final ran while the Young Chefs cook their dishes, then the Certificates and Awards will be presented in one ceremony at 1pm, followed by a buffet lunch and photographs.

Competitors arrive between 9.15 and 9.30am, the draw for order 9.30am.

Charlie Sissons, Cottenham Village College represented the South Cambridge Rotary Club in the Young Chef Competition.

'In the Rotary Young Chef District final were Cambridge area Heat Winners Charlie Sissons of Cottenham Village College and Sam Elliott of Chesterton Community College (Cambridge Rutherford). After a great deal of concentration and hard work by both candidates Sam was declared Runner up out of the 8 competitors in the competition and will be going onto the Regional Final on 16 March 2013 at the same venue.'

Alan Shipp who heads up Youth Activities for The South Cambridge Rotary Club said ' The 3 course meals that the young people had prepared looked wonderful and tasted even better! '
