Second Cambridge area Youth Speaks Competition 2012/2013 arranged by the South Cambridge Rotary Club. Organiser Rtn Alan Shipp.

The competition went extremely smoothly and was enjoyed by all who took part. The five teams were very well prepared and put forward eloquent arguments.

After difficult deliberations the judges panel announced the Winners as Erin Wright, Jamie Marriott and Megan Clowes - 'Placebos should be used in schools' and the Runners-up as Thomas Kent, Patrick Engi and Harry Norman - SATS should be banned'.

In an email of appreciation that we received Mrs Webb said ' the teams are still buzzing from the experience, thank you so much!'.

Open to students from Cottenham Village College and organised by the South Cambridge Rotary Club in co-operation with teacher Jessica Webb.

The competition involves student teams of three who Open, Present a case and Summarise for the judges on topics of their own choice. A time-keeper keeps them in check and regulates the teams to ensure everyone has an equal and fair opportunity to contribute.

The emminent judges give marks on content, presentation and presence - Audrey Harris, Annette Guttridge, Ann Datson.

Our grateful thanks to everyone who made the day possible!
