more than 1300 children take part - stewarded by volunteers from the South Cambridge Rotary Club.

'Thank you for your help at the event yesterday - without the help of the Rotary we would really struggle to run the event and I think it is such a feature in the schools calendar now.  We were lucky with the weather but the smooth running of the event was definitely down to your excellent help.' - Claire Row - Co-ordinator, South Cambridgeshire School Sports partnership.

South Cambridge Rotary Club is pleased to be associated with and assisting at the annual South Cambs Schools Sports Mini Olympics for year 4 children which is open to approx 1300 children from 43 primary schools each year.

On Tuesday 18th June 2013 the Sports Partnership held its annual Mini Olympics which involves all of the primary schools in the catchment areas of the 8 Village Colleges in South Cambridgeshire.  Just over 1300 pupils descended on the University Athletics Centre, Wilberforce Road, Cambridge.  During the day each child rotates through 16 different activities, so that they all encounter a variety of challenges throughout, a wonderful experience for them all. The club house, track and astro turf area are all  available. As last year we were very lucky with the weather and enjoyed a gloriously sunny day.

When the small organising committee approached the Rotary Club of South Cambridge with an appeal for help the club was eager to respond again.  5 club members volunteered to supervise the smooth arrival of the children and to oversee the parking of  31 large coaches, then co-ordinate the pick up at the end of the event in the narrow confines of the local roads and carpark.
