SMALL GRANTS SCHEME
As we start a new Rotary year it is illuminating to realise what was achieved last year when we were all in lockdown. We regularly donated hand cream to front line NHS workers, we planted trees, daffodils and crocus and removed over 52 Kg of rubbish from the streets to enhance the environment in Dorchester, we continued supporting the installation of water supplies in rural Nepal and donated an environmentally efficient cooker to a school in Kenya, Our Christmas Draw raised over £7000 for local charities and our other fund raising ventures raised a similar amount that will be dispersed in our small grants scheme. So I feel honoured to be President of such an enthusiastic and friendly club that is really committed to the Rotary motto of “Service before Self”. We will continue all of the above this Rotary year as well as participating in an international Rotary Day of Service, hopefully with other local Rotary clubs. We will also be working really hard to establish a local Rotaract club that is targeted at the 18-32 year age group. However as the lockdown finally ceases we anticipate having a year of friendship and fun.
