Welcome to the Rotary Club of Warwick Avon
Rotarian Brian Froggatt.
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rotarian Brian Froggatt on 7th January 2021 at the Victoria Care Home in Leamington Spa.
Brian was a highly regarded member of Warwick Avon Rotary Club. Having joined R.I.B.I. itself in 1974, he became a loyal member of W.A.R.C. in 1981, shortly after its formation in 1978.
In those days, the club numbered around 40 members. They were a vibrant social group, raising funds and attending conferences accompanied by their wives and partners, with fun, laughter and enthusiasm and celebrating both the 10th and 20th Anniversaries and the Millennium, in grand style.
Brian was a vital and valued member of the club, particularly of the Rotary Quiz Team where his amazing knowledge of Rotary History helped the team’s frequent success. Brian had held most offices including those of Treasurer, Secretary (often), and President and received the award of the Paul Harris Fellowship for his exceptional services.
As National Treasurer of the International Caravanning Fellowship of Rotary and Chairman and Treasurer of the District ICFR he and his wife, Barbara, were influential members of the Rotary Caravan Club, organising rallies and travelling all over Europe with them, often attending Rotary meetings in their destination countries. Activities they introduced to the Caravan Club, also became favourites with Warwick Avon and Brian continued to run both ‘Diminishing Whist’ and ‘Carpet Bowls’ evenings until ill-health prevented him from attending meetings in person
Even when he was unable to attend meetings, Brian continued to take a warm interest in Rotary activities and was always ready to chat and occasionally offer wise advice in his kindly, humorous manner.
Brian was a trusted and warm Rotarian colleague and will be much missed by us all.
