About us

MULTUM IN PARVO

Rotary in England's smallest County offers a warm welcome to Rutlanders and visitors alike.

The Rotary Club of Oakham was chartered in 1952 and twenty years later when the County of Rutland was absorbed into Leicestershire the members of the Club elected to change the name to the Rotary Club of Rutland, thereby preserving the old County identity.  On 1st April 1997, Rutland regained its County status and the Rotary Club once again became the only Club in England to represent a whole County.

We are a small friendly Club and we like to think that the Rutland County motto MULTUM IN PARVO  "much in little" or as Christopher Marlowe translated it: 'Infinite Treasure in a Little Room,' applies as much to the Rotary Club of Rutland as to the County.

In 2024 we were proud to sponsor the Ukrainian Rotary Impact Club of Rutland. Formed from people who had to leave their country as a result of the Russian invasion, the Impact Club aims to 'give something back' to Rutlanders as a 'thank you' for their generosity. The Impact Club has added a lively enthusiasm to Rotary in Rutland.

The Rotary  Club of Rutland  is open to all and if you want to make a difference with friendly companions, please contact us by clicking on 'Contact' at the top of this Homepage and following the guide.
