About us

Felixstowe Rotary  Club - Who we are and what we do

Welcome to the Rotary Club of Felixstowe.

Formed in 1926, and looking forward to our centenary, we are proud of our long history of fellowship and service to the Felixstowe area and the worldwide community.

We will be best known for our work in the local community and our high-profile fundraising events. This along with great hospitality humour and fun at our Thursday lunchtime meetings, socials, and visits.  However, as part of Rotary International, a worldwide organisation of 1.4 million members in some 200 countries, our reach is truly global.

Our major fun and fundraising events, Fun Run and Santa’s Ride around Town, and within the business community Boxing Dinner and Golf Day, are well established on Felixstowe calendar. Over the last Rotary year, the funds raised from these and other projects has enabled the club to donate just under £70,000 to local, national and international organisations. Too many to list but including, from near to far, the Parish Pantry, Compass, Trimley Marshes, St Elizabeth Hospice, Save the Children, and Rotary’s widely acclaimed campaigned to eradicate polio worldwide.

But it’s not only about making donations. Sometimes a relatively small amount of funding, along with the contacts and drive to make things happen, can go a long way. For example, in our youth development programme we work in collaboration with the Yeo Group, Clip ’n Climb and ITFC to provide new challenges and confidence building experiences.

We are here to help, to make a difference. Indeed, the Rotary motto is “Service Above Self.”
