On 21st June we held our second Classic Car and Bike show which, like its predecessor, took place on the Imperial Recreation Ground.
Although the weather forecast during the week preceding the show had predicted warm and sunny weather, the day itself had a few surprises in store. Despite being a warm day, there were three, relatively brief, periods of showery rain. The gusty wind, too, provided an extra challenge but, in true Rotary style, we didn’t let any of this detract from a wonderful occasion.
There were around 100 cars and bikes on display and many stalls and attractions to entertain the public. Although there was no entry charge for vehicle owners, they did make generous voluntary donations which helped us raise an impressive amount. After all deductions of expenses, we are absolutely delighted to say that we raised £2,845 for Hospiscare. Given that our first Car Show was in July 2024, this meant that both fell within President Adrian’s Rotary year. Taken together, we achieved a total donation to Hospiscare (President Adrian’s chosen charity) of almost £7,000.
