The day after he’d handed his chain of office over to the next incumbent, instead of taking it easy, putting his feet up enjoying a glass of something cold, our by now ex-Mayor, John Crockford-Hawley could be found at Weston Golf Club, entertaining Weston Rotary Club after dinner, by recounting for us tales of his ‘Year In Chains’.
Members, their Partners, Friends and Guests listened enthralled and amused as he related anecdotes of his encounters with members of the public during his time in office, as well as the great and good.
John’s positive attitude, coupled with his larger than life personality shone through as did his enthusiasm for the office he has held twice now, with well in excess of 300 engagements having been carried out by him during the last year alone.
