Working with Waitrose and the Discharge Assessment Unit at the Queen’s Hospital in Burton, the Club provides food hampers to patients who are discharged home and may not have essential supplies.
This ensures that patients leaving care are as comfortable as possible, benefits carers, prevents delays in discharging, reduces the patients’ length of stays within DAU, and frees up space for other patients – an all-round win.
The scheme was introduced by Club President Mel Thomas, inspired by a similar project at Caterham Rotary Club in Surrey
