Thu, Jun 11th 2009 at 12:00 am - 2:00 am
Following the support given by the Rotary Club of Gourock to Inverclyde Schools "Pool By The Sea Project", the members of the club received and invitation to attend a production called "James Watt, Head of Steam". This was an opera based on the life and legacy of James Watt. It was written by Scottish Opera with the help of Primary 5 children from across Inverclyde and was be performed by professional opera singers and the children.
Sixteen members of the Rotary Club of Gourock attended the "James Watt, Head of Steam", opera. The words of Secretary Donald Ritchie summed up the evening :-
"I can tell you we thoroughly enjoyed the show. What a lot of work went into that. The costumes, the lighting, the staging, the music, the singing, the dancing and the orchestra were great. It was a most tuneful production. The children were well trained and well disciplined. What is it they say - "Superb is too small a word for it!"
Thank you for giving us the opportunity to see it.
Well done to all".
