Rotary Wickford recently held it's Handover Meeting at the Magic Mushroom to see the new President of the Club being inaugurated in her post. Of course this is nothing new, as President Pauline handed over the reins to.... President Pauline!
We're very proud that Pauline has taken on the role again of Club President, carrying on the great work she has undertaken for a few years now, so that this will be a record breaking fourth year in office.
We were graced by the attendance of the District Governor, our very own Mark Williamson, as well as our friend Assistant Governor Richard Rackham, and also Inner Wheel President Jayne Moorhouse. Richard has recently started supporting the Club, having attended our Club Assembly a few weeks ago to understand our plans for the coming year. Jayne, meanwhile, has recently thrown herself out of an aeroplane in the name of charity, having done a sponsored parachute jump in aid of Farleigh Hospice in Chelmsford, raising in excess of £1,500 in the process! Well done Jayne!
After an extremely pleasant meal, Pauline described the many activities and achievements of the Club in the past year, culminating in a total for charity giving of in excess of £24,000. A good year.
Jayne brought greetings from Inner Wheel Wickford, and spoke eloquently of the excellent relationship between the Inner Wheel and Rotary Wickford, and wished the Club well for the forthcoming year.
DG Mark then presented Pauline with her Past President's jewel, and then in recognition of the great work she has done for the Club, she was invested as a Paul Harris Fellow, an honour she was shocked and extremely grateful to receive.
