A talk by John McGrath

Our very own Rowels member, John McGrath, Deputy County Commissioner for North Yorkshire gave us a talk on Scouting in North Yorkshire.
The power point presentation covered a history of scouting from its inception in 1907 by Baden Powell  to the state of the current movement which is thriving.
Along the way we learnt of the formation of the girl guiding movement formed by Baden Powell with his sister Agnes, the grouping of the scouts and the age groups they cater for.
There are 150 member countries with Jamborees held every 4 years all over the world.
John gave us a detailed insight into the many activities the scouting movement undertakes  to give a  confidence boost to youngsters and help to broaden their horizons.
