A Talk on old Ripon

Tue, Jun 14th 2016 at 7:30 pm - 10:00 pm

Our very own David Suddards gave us a presentation on old Ripon. His extensive collection of old photographs were displayed on screen in great detail.
They were of old buildings some long ago demolished and others that survived and were recognisable as still here today.
As a garrison town many of the photos were of the soldiers parading throught the city to mark various events.
Pictures of the racecourse and railway took everyone back into the 1890's and 1900's.plus pictures of the early St Wifrid's day processions.
David had obviously done a great deal of research into the various items as his commentary was totally absorbing.
He modestly said the presentation was work in progress and he was collecting further information from local people some who remembered shopping in the shops pictured that had long ago disappeared..
A proffessional presentation that with further information gathering will only get better,

If you have any details / memories or material of old Ripon I am sure David would love to here from you.
