For many years Rotary International has been participating in the fight to eradicate polio from the world. You can find out much more about this campaign at https://www.endpolio.org/.
On a glorious Summer’s evening in late August, 30 Golfers played in the annual ‘three clubs and a putter’ challenge, at Aspley Guise Golf Club, which helped to raise over £1700 towards Rotary’s fight to eradicate Polio around the World. With the Bill And Melinda Gates Foundation multiplying the figure to become over £5,100, we remain hopeful that such contributions will eventually rid the world of this terrible disease.
The winning team of Ian Humphries, Marie Stradling and Aspley Ladies’ Captain, Sharon Payne can be seen receiving the prestigious trophy from Rotary Grand Union Vice President Valerie Cooke. A very fitting result as it was Ian Humphries who kindly donated the trophy to us some 16 years previously.
Our thanks go to all our Sponsors - Pro Shot Golf, Poplars Garden Centre, Richard Lally (Professional Golfer), Mike Zilles (Personal Trainer), The Bell Inn and Chris Duff. Woburn Golf Club generously donated a fourball voucher which raised £500 as our single auction item.
