Nine Rotarians from Ashby Castle Rotary Club and Ashby Rotary Club attended the Rotary District Young Musician Final to support four young musicians who had progressed from the Ashby competition.
Theo Jenkins played the trombone, Oliver Pope sang, Samuel Pope played the Tuba and Effie Bowman played the harp and sang. All gave impressive performances and were competing with young musicians from across the Midlands for a place in the Regional Final to be held in Wolverhampton in March.
The day started at 10:00 am and finished at 3:30 pm with over 30 young musicians taking part. Judge Sheila Berry, an accomplished musician and singer who studied music at Cambridge, had some difficult decisions to make with performances being of such a high standard,
The final decision saw Samuel and Effie advance to the Regional Final, and Effie won the overall District Young Musician Award.
Congratulations to all who took part These talented young musicians we a real credit to the area
