RCCB YOUTH SERVICES COMMITTEE - AGREED ACTIVITIES2017-2018
The Youth Services Committee will attempt to involve as many young people and Club members as possible in Youth activities through the following events:
1.Young Chef
The Club Round will be held at Whitchurch High School on Thursday 23rd Nov.2017. Area round participation will be decided later.
2.Young Musician
The Club/Area round will be held at WHS. Date Planned (Thurs. 11thJan.18)- TBC.
3.Youth Speaks
The Club Round to involve the English Department of Whitchurch High School, and Bro Eden. Intermediate Competition: Date planned (Tuesday 18th Jan.18)- TBC. Senior Competition : Date Planned (Tuesday 25th Jan.18) -TBC
4.Young Interviewer
Single District final: Date Confirmed Friday March 2rd 2018
5.Fitzalan
feeder schools – Essay Competition
Organised in co-operation with Llanishen/Cardiff Bay Rotary Clubs. Open to all final year students of the nine feeder schools. Ongoing September to April. Prizes/Presentations March/April.

6.Interact
Continue to support and promote Howells, Whitchurch, and Cathedral Interact Clubs by involving them in our Club activities, and involving ourselves in theirs. Interactors are welcome at any breakfast meeting but three meetings will be specifically planned as “Interact” breakfasts to which Interactors/staff from Whitchurch High School, Howells and Cathedral School will be invited:
Wednesday 20th September 2017 – RYLA report back
Wednesday 6th December 2017 – Christmas Breakfast
Wednesday 2nd May 2018 – New Presidents/ Paul Spencer Awards. This award is made annually for the individual who has contributed most in the appropriate year to the success of the Interact Clubs at Howells/ Whitchurch / Cathedral Schools.
7.RYLA –Rotary Youth Leadership Award 2017
Club to financially support 3 places, one each for Howells, WHS, and Cathedral schools. We will again apply for any grants available to subsidise fees.
8.Whitchurch Primary school
Award two prizes annually at the leaving assembly to year 6 pupils for “the most improved” and “the best” pupils.
9.
Whitchurch Primary RotaKids
Continue to support Rotakids group established at WPS
- Three projects to be undertaken: Charity/Community/International.
- Committee to be invited to Christmas Interact Breakfast.
10.Fund Raising Objectives
Youth Services will organise (with Club help) three main fundraising events with the aim of raising a sum at least equal to what is spent annually on Youth Activities. Proposed for 2017/8:

C&VY Orchestra Concert Friday 23rd March 2018*
* RCCB to run single combined concert including parents/families. Proposed profit split--- £850 to RCCB charities, balance to Orchestra.
