LAMP or the Rotary leadership and Management programme is run by Rotary in conjunction with the Institute of Leadership. Under the programme student attend a series of sessions in which they will learn about some of the basic principles and leadership management planning and teamwork. Students use the skills and knowledge to form teams which will then design, plan and implement a project. The project will raise money to support or will benefit a charity or cause of their choice. Those students who successfully complete the programme and pass the final assessment centre are awarded a Level 2 qualification by the Institute of Leadership which can be added to their CV.
The team from Hadleigh Castle Rotary worked with USP College to jointly sponsor and support students from the campuses at SEEVIC in Benfleet and Palmers in Grays to participate. Over an 8 week period the team facilitated and mentored students through the course work and their projects. The final assessment took place on 25th April at the SEEVIC Campus in Benfleet. Each team gave a presentation to a panel of independent assessors as well as being interviewed one to one by an assessor and handing over their course and project workbook.
We are pleased to say that between the two USP sites 19 students were awarded a pass with final grades of pass to be established in the next few weeks by the Institute of Leadership (ie pass, merit or distinction). After the assessment was completed the panel chair commented
“the standard of presentations was consistently good, probably the best we have seen over the years from District 1240. Everyone who presented passed and there were some really strong passes which will in due course be reflected in the grades”
“the workbooks from USP and Palmers were some of the best we have seen”
Thank you to all of the team who helped to support the project and congratulations to the students who worked so hard to achieve such a good result.
