A full day of friendly competition in 12 different sports led to lots of laughter and fun as Rotary members from across the East Midlands staged their annual Disability Games for the second year running at Ratcliffe College.
A total of 155 people with a range of disabilities took part.
Bradgate Rotary members, helped by friends from other Rotary clubs and non-Rotary volunteers ran the darts competition, overseeing 58 players taking part in 51 matches in the college’s squash court.
President Alan Rockey presented a trophy and prizes donated by disability charity Mosaic.
Winner of the Senior Men’s final was Trevor Rennie, from Northamptonshire.
Senior Female winner was Tamsin Dunn, from the RSRS club at Sleaford, Lincs., the same club of junior winner Arabella Shaw.
Alan said: “It was great to see so many competitors, supported by family and friends, enjoying fellowship and fun.”
Darts competition manager Jim Matthews agreed, saying: “This is what Rotary is all about… groups of friends working together to give others chances they would not otherwise get. I’m grateful to all those who gave up several hours to make the darts competitions safe and successful.”
