RAF Lossiemouth

Drafted in at the last minute due to operational commitments of her colleagues, Wg Cdr Sharon Evelegh-Hall, OC Engineering & Logistics Wg gave an overview of her career to date and life at RAF Lossiemouth.

She explained that although RAF Lossiemouth is the only RAF Base in Scotland, it still has parenting commitments for several smaller units such as University Air Squadrons and the Adventure Training Centre at Grantown on Spey. Although there are 4 areas within RAF Lossiemouth – Typhoon Air Wing, ISTAR (Surveillance) Wing, Force Protection Wing and then Station operations, the whole base retains the Team Lossie ethos, working cohesively to get the job done.                             

People are at the heart of any organisation and RAF Lossiemouth strives to look after both the service personnel and their families by regular events such as Coffee Mornings, Craft Sessions and soft play areas whilst also providing support during deployments and training courses which take the service person away from home for more than 7 days.

RAF Lossiemouth is also supporting the local and wider communities by its charitable contributions such as support to the Coat Hanger, involvement with local veterans by way of Christmas Lunch and the Military Wives Choir who sang in Forres to raise money for Cash for Kids.
