Linda Harrison (President) and Angie Murray (Secretary) explained to members what this local organisation was involved in. Since its formation two years ago it has expanded at one stage to 55 members and hopefully there are lessons learned as to how how club can increase membership.
The club donated £300 towards their Stitch Sister Project- a sewing group which meets weekly. This will help with room hire costs at the library and the project is beneficial in that it brings older members together for social activities.
A further update from Angie has now been received:
17.04.19
Just to update you on your very generous donation recently, we have purchased a sewing machine to teach our members to sew and make items for the local community. We have also booked a venue at the Community Centre to teach our members to crochet and i have bought some yarn for us to make lap blankets for the Big Local to distribute to the elderly in the winter in addition to the winter warmer packs that are distributed in Wargrave.
So a MASSIVE thank you for your donation, its being used wisely to benefit our community.
Best Regards
Angie Murray
Viaduct Violets WI secretary
