On Thursday, January 16th the Rotary Clubs of Bedford hosted the first round of the Young Musician of the Year competition at the Bedford Modern School. Contestants' friends and family, along with Rotarians enjoyed a vibrant and high quality showcase featuring performances at Junior, Intermediate and Seniuor levels. A highlight of the evening was harpist Felicity Poole's rendition of Naderman's Third Concertina. Four partipants were chosen to advance to the Distruict Young Musician of the Year Competion, which was held at St Mary's Church Hitchin on Saturday 8th February.
These four finalists competed in the instrumental and vocal categories of the Young Musician of the Year organised by District of February 8th at St Mary's Church Hitchin. Two of our finalists, Neil Palmer (piano) and Jamie Hill (voice), excelled in their respective classes and were selected to move to the Cluster Final at Chelmsford Catherdal on March 8th.
The Rotary Clubs of Bedford held their Young Musician Final on 20th March at the Chrisopher Fry Hall, Bedford Modern Scool. From this event, four instrumentalist were chosen to participate in Concerto Master Class with the Bedford Symphonia on Sunday June 22nd at Bedford School.
