The Great Blakenham incinerator is a £180 million energy-from-waste facility that processes non-recyclable waste that would otherwise go into landfill by converting it into electrical energy.
The tour takes about 2½ hours. It is approximately 1.2km long and includes several flights of stairs and mesh walkways, so is not for anyone with mobility issues or vertigo. Also visitors must be wearing full-length trousers and closed shoes in order to enter the facility.
If you would like to go on this visit, please let me know by email to alan.cutting@btinternet.com. Also, if you wish to have supper at the White Horse.
Unfortunately, the incinerator visit is limited to 18 so I may have to prioritise Members first, then Friends then Guests.
Anyone wishing to join us just for supper at 8pm at the White Horse would be welcome.
