City Fours Golf 2015

Sat, Oct 10th 2015 at 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm

The 70th edition of the annual City Foursomes golf tournament reorganised by the Rotary Club of St Andrews for Saturday 10th October 2015.

Club members please log in for more information.

2015 marks the 70th anniversary year of the City Foursomes Golf Tournament.   It will be played on Saturday 10th October from 12 noon and members of the Rotary Club of St Andrews will be doing their utmost to make it a friendly and enjoyable day for all participants.
Last year, 80 golfers playing in 20 teams had enjoyed the format that was introduced for the first time.   The Tournament had become a one-day event and play was individual Stableford, which contributed to a team score.   Many players said they enjoyed the day and hoped to play in 2015.   Feedback from last year was especially helpful to the 2015 committee.
The Rotary Club of St Andrews 2015 committee is seeking to evolve the Tournament with new impetus.  Accordingly the format for this year will be teams of four playing Foursomes Stableford.  The team achieving most points will win the prestigious oak and silver trophy.   It will again be a one-day competition.   The Committee will keep things together by retaining the New and Jubilee courses for Tournament play.  The prize-giving will be in the Links Clubhouse and the Links Management Trust is being very supportive in reserving a partitioned area where participants can be sociable and enjoy refreshments.
A Green Fee is payable by each player to the Links Starter.   For those without a Links Season Ticket, the Fee will be 25.   Eligibility to enter flows from living in, or working in or being a member of a golf club in St Andrews.   It follows that a member of a St Andrews Golf Club need not live within the City.   There is also a fee of 10 per team for entry to the Tournament.
The support of the Links Management Trust for the aims of the Tournament is greatly appreciated by the Rotary Club of St Andrews.   Rotarian Austin Dunn said, I feel sure players will enjoy the arrangements made for this years Tournament in and around the facilities generously provided by the Links Trust.   We had 80 players last year and the committee hopes the number will grow.
Places are limited to the first 30 teams to enter!
