Michaelmas Fayre 2022 preview

This year's event takes place in Alverstoke on Saturday, September 24th, starting at 11am, and finishing at 4pm with a parade through the village by the HMS Sultan Band.

As the nation looks to lift itself following the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, this year's Michaelmas Fayre will be looking to put a smile back on people's faces. The village has been decked out in bunting, and Alverstoke is looking its finest. All we need is for the sun to put its hat on!!

The Michaelmas Fayre, which is organised by Gosport Rotary Club in conjunction with St Mary's Parish Council, has become part of the rich culture of Alverstoke. It is an event which has been running a number for three decades heralding the end of summer and the beginning of autumn.

Roads immediately around Alverstoke will be closed to allow for a safe carnival atmosphere for this day-long event which features a host of attractions and more than 100 stall holders selling a variety of items.

Money raised from the Michaelmas Fayre will be distributed to a range of good causes. Last year's event raised £20,000 which was divided between the Mayor of Gosport's Charity Appeal, Alverstoke Parish Centre and Gosport Rotary Club.

This is the timetable for the 32nd Michaelmas Fayre:

12pm-12.30pm: New Thorngate Singers @ Parish Centre.

12pm-3.30pm: Harry Strutters Jazz Band @ Village Centre.

2.45pm-3.15pm: Big Noise Samba Band @ Village Green.

3.30pm: HMS Sultan Band @Village Centre.
