French twinning weekend 2014

FRENCH TWINNING WEEKEND 2014

Ryde Rotarians were delighted to welcome seven Rotarians, five with partners from our twin club of Chateau du Loir et La Chartre ur le Loir over the weekend of the 5th to 9th June.

Friday started with a visit to Nunwell House.

Followed by lunch at The Captains Table, Ryde.

The afternoon found us at Goddard's Brewery sampling the splendid brews.

It also provided the venue to show off the mini bus that the two clubs had purchased for John's Club.

and the official presentation of the mini bus was carried out.

Also the mini bus purchased by Ryde Club and two of its members along with Mark Clegg who services all John's Clubs mini buses free of labour charges was presented to the Club's members.

The '[Welcome Dinner' was held at Appley Manor Hotel in the evening.

David Randini provided entertainment with table magic and a good time was had by all.

On Saturday we went to the mainland to visit Fort Nelson on Porstdown Hill.

Fort Nelson houses the National Artillery Museum, which is well worth visiting and has the bonus of being free entry.

President Nitin hosted lunch in his garden on Sunday and fortunately the weather was kind.

The afternoon we were guests of Ryde Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club to sample the art of croquet.

The 'Farewell Dinner' was held at Yelf's Hotel in the evening.

Our visitors returned home on Monday via shopping at Gunwharf Quay, where they did a great deal for the local economy.

Here's to 2015!
