Top Honour for Swanage Rotarian

One of our longest-serving and most dedicated Rotarians received a top award in the recent King's Birthday Honours

Here at Swanage & Purbeck Rotary, we were all delighted when we heard that Rotarian David Pike has been awarded a British Empire Medal (BEM) in the recent King's Birthday Honours.

David has served Rotary and the Swanage Community for the majority of his adult life and has now received a well deserved award for his tireless efforts, not just in organising Rotary events but for his work with the wider community. His dedication is pretty much unmatched and he is not letting the years dictate how much he can still put in, frequently demonstrating the energy of people half his age.

From all of us, and we're sure the community at large, many congratulations on your BEM!

This news came hot on the heels of our annual Handover evening, when the chain of office passed from the current President to the new one, and on a walm and balmy evening at Swanage Sailing Club, outgoing President Maggie Hardy passed the mantle to new incumbent Bart Libicki.

Bart is from Polish descent and the splendid buffet at handover reflected that, including many Polish delicacies enjoyed by more than 40 people, who were able to enjoy the evening and the wonderful view from the balcony outside (as it was such a nice evening).

The year just ending has been a highly successful one, in which we have been able to attract new enthusiastic members with some great new ideas into the group. We have also been delighted to welcome new Corporate members 'Hull Gregson Hull' and 'I Can Be' to Rotary, and we look forward to working with them going forward.

Swanage & Purbeck Rotary welcomes anyone interested in helping and supporting our community, whether they be individuals or organisations, so please don't hesitate to contact us via the website and we will be happy to provide more information about the various types of membership of the group available.
