We were treated with a very amusing insight into the life of comedy scriptwriter Colin Boxstock-Smith who's career in Radio and TV spanned the 1970's through to the 2000's. Starting life as a Fleet Street journalist he found his talents better suited to writing scripts for Radio and TV. During his long career he wrote scripts for Bob Monkhouse, David Jason, Rowan Atkinson, Anne Robinson, Russ Abbott, The Two Ronnies, Griff Rhys Jones, Pamela Stephenson and, not to be overlooked, Basil Brush.
Colin spoke of times gone past and showed us some of the sketches he had penned, we were treated to "Songs of Praise" from Not the 9 o'clock News, "Squash" from the Two Ronnies, "Bill Clinton" from Clive James Show and many other highlights we all remember from our years gone by.
Phil Johnson gave the vote of thanks and he thanked Colin twice, firstly for his very entertaining talk and secondly for all the fun that he had given us over his career. The audience applauded with enthusiasm and there were plenty of questions for Colin at the end of the evening.
