Well, despite the weather being dull and cold, instead of sunny and bright, people turned out to shop. We had some wonderful artisan stalls: cheeses, baking, crochet, venison, crafts and of course Jethart Snails which are made in the kitchen of one family, to a secret recipe.
Local shops and cafes opened specially, making the whole day an exciting retail experience. The chosen charity this time was Jedburgh Grammar Campus's garden project, which encourages children to grow fruit and veg. We collected £180 for them to spend on equipment and compost! Children also get to taste the products of their labours, so they learn that food comes from somewhere else before it gets to supermarket shelves.
