A large group of Penrith Rotarians took to the hills on Sunday. Meeting near Rydal the group quickly showed themselves to contain both optimists and pessimists; optimists  who thought it was just a light passing shower and so did not wear waterproofs and the others who set off dressed for a typhoon.
As things turned out the pessimists won the day, the rain getting heavier throughout the walk but happily not cold. The route took us from White Moss towards Rydal Hall, then along the side of Rydal before crossing the River Rothay on the footbridge at the head of Grasmere. So, over 2 hours of wet walking took us back to the car park before driving to the Kings Head Inn Thirlspot for lunch. Spirits were high throughout the walk and the picture shows the group above Rydal.  After lunch, President Malcolm Boyd thanked the organiser Bill Hart for a splendid day out which, after an Indian Summer, even included typical Lake District weather!
