Community and Vocation Committee
Our Proposals for 2019/20 are:-
Committee: Alan Pudney (Chairman), Richard Coleman, Helder Lemos, Ron Johnson, John Metcalfe
Ingatestone & Fryerning Horticultural Societys Summer Show
Held in Seymour Field in July, our committee will continue to organise the bar as in previous years. Members have been assigned their roles, and weather permitting we anticipate being able to give the Horticultural Society material help during the show.
To maintain the smooth operation of the Annual Christmas Float Collection.
It was agreed to carry on as usual, but that we need to gather in some reserves for the door to door canvassing as we are all getting older. Alan Pudney will investigate what help we can get from youth, such as scouts.
Blood Pressure Check
Last year it was found that a lot of people had already had it done at the surgery recently, and also that the chemists were not happy because they do blood pressure checks for nothing. Conclusion: probably not worthwhile this coming year.
To arrange & organize the Tesco Collection using the Christmas Float.
To continue the Dictionary 4 Life Campaign in local schools
All in order and paid for this year for Ingatestone, Margaretting, Mountnessing and Highwood Junior schools. It was generally agreed that these Usborne dictionaries go beyond the basic concept of dictionary and are very desirable. The cost per copy is very reasonable, and we will carry on offering them to the local schools.
To continue to support I.A.E.S. in filling shoeboxes
Level Crossing building – proposed premises for village museum
Our intention is to render as much assistance as we can within our resources.
Youth Services
Ingatestone Boys' Own 5 Mile RaceThe club annually supplies cups etc for winners of Ingatestone Boys' Own Club race in September. We anticipate continuing to support this event next year with their website and helping to marshall the race.
To try and interest the Ingatestone Anglo European School in the various Rotary GB&I competitions:-
i.e. Young Chef, Youth Speaks, Young Citizen, Young Musician, Technology Tournament, Young Writer, etc.
And also, in Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) - Rotary's leadership training program for young people.
We are also looking at launching a Rotary Interact club at the school
To arrange a fund-raising event - if any project requires funding.
