Plans for the Year
Barry Smith (Chair), David Burrows, Geoff Brown
The weekly meetings continue to be well supported. During the year, the cost of the meal at Northcliffe Golf Club increased from £10 to £15 for a one course meal. We then agreed a further uplift to £16 and now have a main course, plus either a starter or pudding. Although we have had no notice of an increase for the current year, I think this is a possibility. The quality of the food does vary, but on most occasions is of a good standard.
Subscription for 2025/2025 have been agreed at £130, an increase from the current £100. The main reason for the increase is that over the previous two years, we budgeted for a loss. This was to reduce the funds that had built up in the Club account, due to surpluses on the budgets over a number of years. The Club funds are now at a level where we can basically cover one year of fixed costs and should not be reduced further. We have therefore budgeted to break even or suffer a small loss and a subscription of £130 is required.
We expect to induct one new member for the start of the 2025/2026 Rotary year. This will give us a membership of 19, plus one Honorary member.
Attracting external speakers to the Club is not always easy, which has resulted in members making their own presentations or arranging external visits. No doubt these visits will continue, although we need to make certain we do not preclude some members attending on these occasions because of access issues.
