Plans for the Year

Barry Smith (Chair), Graham Robinson Keith Brown

During this continued period of meeting via Zoom, we will encourage members to be on the lookout for speakers who might be able to join these meetings.
Once we can recommence our meetings at the Bradford Club, I hope we will have been able to build up a list of possible speakers for members to consider.  We must accept that we will be contacted by more and more Charitable organisations who will want to speak, in return for a donation from our Charity fund. If any member will be looking at bringing a speaker that fits into that category, I would ask that it is first discussed at a Club meeting. Our funds will only stretch so far.

Fellowship

There were a number of visits that were discussed prior to the lockdowns and social distancing and these had to be put on hold. How soon we can revisit these depends on so many things and all I can do is list the visits/events that we should consider once we get back to some form of normality.

Possibilities visits are-
Drax Power Station
Skipton Castle
Yorkshire Sculpture Park
British Library – Thorpe Arch
Wyedean Weaving Co – makers of military uniforms
Exhibition at Bradford Industrial Museum on W E Forster – this runs until 8 November, but maybe extended (at the moment you can look at a virtual version of the exhibition on the Industrial Museum’s web site)
Locally – Cartwright Hall/Science and Media Museum

Other events that will be considered-
An event at the newly refurbished St Georges Hall
A follow up visit round the Odeon re-development to see the work that has been done, if this is possible
We would look at continuing with a visit to the Ilkley Playhouse and one of following - the Grand, the Alhambra or Leeds Playhouse.
York Mystery Plays

I hope we can hold our annual Christmas party, but more of that later in the year.

East Riddlesden Hall is currently closed so I cannot see that the annual performance by the Lord Chamberlain’s Men will take place this year.
