Yet again all three Alcester-based senior schools impressed us when they took part in the local heat of the 2023 Rotary "Youth Speaks: a debate" competiton in February. Teams of three debated a topic of their choice, putting forward an argument both for and against a motion, before taking a question from the judging panel. The questions were not easy but all students answered in an assured and confident manner. Finally the chairperson for each team skilfully summed up the 15 minute debate.
The students from years 10,11 and 12 were articulate and produced well executed performances which made judging a challenge. After careful deliberation the judges chose the Alcester Grammar School team.
The Rotary Club are actively involved with the Youth Club in Alcester called the Depot by providing financial support and members to help organise the programmes.
