Car Boot Sale, August Bank Holiday Monday

Earlier in the week there had been a worry that the sale could not proceed due to the Water Meadows at Marlborough College having been occupied by traveller caravans. However they moved on and the field was once again vacant and available for Rotary to run their Boot Sale. Despite a poor weather forecast and competing boot sales in the area the Rotary sale started with an excellent turn out of both the stalls selling their wares and of the buyers intent on getting a bargain.

Part of the regular attractions at the Rotary Boot Sale are the excellent value bacon and sausage rolls and coffee; much needed after the early start that many endure to set up their stalls or to get the best bargains. Today was no exception and many happy people were seen walking away from the Rotary food stand munching contentedly on their breakfasts.

Buying and selling activities were going apace but then, it being a Briish Bank Holiday, half way through the morning the heavens opened and the sellers and buyers alike decided enough was enough and brought the sale to a rapid conclusion. Hopefully next time ( 27 May 2013 - make a note in your diaries) the weather will be kinder to us.
