The guest speaker at the meeting on Tuesday 3rd September was in receipt of congratulations on his recent promotion, now a Flying Officer, Vince Morris ((418 Squadron (Aberconwy) A.T.C.), who was introduced to the members and guest Rotarian Richard Gallagher from the Rotary Club of Cheadle Staffordshire, by past President Mike Pearce.
Flying Officer Vince who is the lead officer, gave details of the Tri Cadet Service Commemoration of the start of the First World War.It will take place at Wormout, Nord Pas de Calais in July next year, the programme was developed following a Llandudno Town Council twining visit in 2013 in conjunction with a previous invitation from the French.
30 cadets and 9 staff from the 3 services will spend 4 days in France and will play a major role in the main act of commemoration. Thursday will see the advance party arrive followed on Friday by the main camp. Saturday will consist of visits to Wormout Town Cemetery and to the Welsh Memorial at Mametz Wood. The program for Sunday consists of a visit to the 1940 massacre site, a civic parade and a Sunset service led by the cadets from the three services. The 3 objectives of the occasion are to keep the memory of the First World War alive, (there are no participants still living), provide education and learning for the cadets and promote town twinning between Llandudno
The vote of thanks was given by Mike Pearce
