Welcome to the Rotary Club of Brandon and District

We're a friendly, informal Club who enjoy supporting our local community and socialising. We meet at the Royal British Legion Club on Thursday evenings and on the first Thursday of the month we eat out with family and friends at a different local venue.

Welcom to the The Rotary Club of Brandon & District  (this is our full title - but calling us Brandon Rotary Club is fine too!)

Our club based in Brandon, Suffolk provides support to the towns of Brandon, Thetford and the surrounding villages. We are part of the Rotary District 1080, which includes around 70 other Rotary Clubs across East Anglia.

Rotarians are just ordinary men and women who like helping others and socalising - it's as simple as that!

We represent a complete cross-section of our local community. We all have a wide variety of interests, hobbies, occupations and professions and some of us are enjoying retirement!

At present we have around twenty two active members in our club, and our remit is to support our local community, as well as other UK and international charities and causes. We support many local schools, charities, clubs, food banks and groups with donations raised through our fundraising.

Our projects are organised in such a way that they involve the whole local community, and really are great fun. Our major fundraiser is the annual Bonfire and Fireworks event held at Brandon Hall and we organise the Santa Sleigh which visits Brandon at Christmas too. These events really are as much fun for us as they are for those who attend!

If you're interested in finding out more about our Club, would like to attend a meeting as a guest or would just like to chat with one of us, please do get in touch.

All Rotary Clubs are part of Rotary International, which is a worldwide organisation, consisting of 33,000 Rotary clubs in more than 200 countries.

Major international Rotary projects are aimed at relieving disease, hunger, unclean water and poor education. Three Rotary led projects are 'Purple for polio' providing polio vaccinations which have virtually helped to eradicate polio, the Rotary Shoebox scheme sending shoeboxes to disadvantaged chidren and adults in Eastern Europe and Shelterbox - emergency shelters which are sent to areas hit by natural disaster. Our Club is proud to have supported all three projects!

In 2022, Rotary clubs throughout the world responded in a number of ways to support aid agencies and Ukrainian Rotary clubs providing aid and assistance to the people of Ukraine. Our Clubmembers are proud to have made donations to support the international aid effort and to have accessed a national grant to provide help to Ukrainians being hosted locally.
