On Tuesday 28th October, following the ‘Talk Talk’ fiasco, the club treasurer, John New, who works in the banking industry, ran through a wide range of scams.
Scammers are sophisticated, very persuasive, convincing and they do not discriminate. It is vital that individuals have ownership of their personal data. It is very valuable. Protect your address, bank details, phone and computer. If your wallet or handbag are stolen you will not blame the manufacturer.
Always be suspicious, if it is too good to be true it is. Banks and the police will never phone for your personal details such as your 4 digit Pin or your on line banking password. Banks will never ask you to check the number showing on your telephone display matches their registered number.
