Convener's Report (Membership) AGM 2016

A summary of achievements during the 2015-16 Rotary year

Membership Committee Report

At the beginning of this Rotary year we had an active membership excluding honorary members of 28. Sadly, fellow members will be all too aware we lost, with the passing of Ian Borland a very committed Rotarian and a stalwart of our club.

However, now as we approach the end of this year our membership has increased as of tonight to 31, again not counting honorary members.  We are delighted to welcome Jeremy as our newest member and thanks to Ian Grieve for sponsoring Jeremy.

Earlier in the year we welcomed Helen into club who joined us by transferring from the Rotary Club of Fraserburgh. At the beginning of the year we were grateful to Ian for sponsoring Mark and just last month we were pleased to welcome Martin, sponsored by Keith All our recently joined members have already got involved and are making a positive contribution to the running of the club. Martin you should be pleased tonight as you have already lost the title of newest member.

The enlarged membership committee held its first meeting in January and proposed a number of ideas. The first of which is to arrange a recruitment evening and this is arranged for 19th April. More details on this to follow but I am pleased to say that Dave, Neil, Donald and Mark have agreed to speak on the night. We should aim to invite around 6 people who are interested in learning more about our club and what we do.

The second idea was to produce an information leaflet to pass on the potential members and I have such a leaflet which will go before council for their consideration.

Finally we should always remember and indeed as Ian and Keith have shown, every one of us has the potential to recommend a friend or friends as new members.
