2022-23 Chairman Geoff Keeling
On alternate Fridays, we meet at 10.00am for coffee which is followed at 10.30am by a talk by an invited speaker. This normally lasts about an hour after which there is time for questions. Some of us adjourn to the local pub across the road for lunch.
Speakers come from all walks of life and talk on a wide variety of topics. Our scheduled meetings and their topics can be viewed on the Programme page.We have a walking group that meets on the last Thursday each month for a trek of around 5 miles. A golfing section organises matches against other clubs, internal competitions and occasional days away playing golf, and a crown green bowling section meets on the first and third Thursdays of the month. A dining group meets at a variety of local restaurants every two months.
In addition, partners are invited to join us for several visits to places of interest during the year, and for two formal lunches. There is in addition an annual 5-day holiday to which partners are also invited.
When attending meetings, members have the opportunity to make voluntary contributions to the Club's Charity Fund from which donations are made to local and national charities.
If you are a retired gentleman with a Friday morning to spare, you will be most welcome to come and join us. We meet at the Bowdon Parish Centre, Stamford Road, Bowdon, WA14 2JT, opposite the Griffin pub. (Map) You can park in The Griffin pub car park, or in the Jubilee Centre car park accessed from The Firs and St Mary’s Road.
