Rotary Club of Hexham supports Hextol/Tans

President Stephen Middleton of the Rotary Club of Hexham presents the cheque to Chris Milner Chief Executive of the Hextol Foundation in the presence of Rotarian Peter Oliver and some of the Hextol staff and trainees

For more than twenty years the Northumberland County Council-sponsored Tans vegetarian restaurant on St Mary's Chare provided a vital training service. After Northumberland County Council announced in May 2015 that it was withdrawing its funding for the service, more than one thousand six hundred people people signed a petition calling for it to be saved and the Hextol Foundation led by Chief Executive, Chris Milner, stepped forward to incorporate the restaurant into the existing work of the Foundation.

The Hextol Foundation asked the Rotary Club of Hexham if they could provide financial assistance towards the cost of refurbishment of the premises. To raise funds the Club, with the kind assistance of Waitrose, arranged a supermarket bag-pack on 28th May 2016, collecting a total of £878 which was passed to the Hextol Foundation

The Rotary Club of Hexham thanks Waitrose and all those who participated, for their help and support in this venture.
