President Bill Jones welcomed eleven other members. Derek Hall gave an update on the Victoria Hall concert which is only three weeks away. He emphasised that the selling of tickets should now be a priority.
The talk given by Alastair Wilson was on 'An extraordinary Scots American'. He described the productive and colourful lives of James Gordon Bennett Snr and his son, James Jnr.
They built-up from scratch and ran a vast newspaper empire during a dramatic period in American history from 1835 to 1918. Their name lives on to this day as "Gordon Bennett!"
Alastair made the weekly draw for a whisky miniature — and pulled out his own name.
