Club Meeting - AGM

Tue, Jun 6th 2017 at 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

The Annual General Meeting of the club was held after lunch.

President Bill Jones welcomed 13 other members, in particular Ian Mowat who was attending his first meeting since his recent health problem. Derek Hall gave details of members jobs at tonight's D-Day Anniversary Concert in the Victoria Hall, and anticipated an attendance of at least 150.

The AGM followed lunch, and began with reports from the conveners of club committees on the year's activities. Treasurer Lesley Kennedy presented her report and budget for the coming year, and her proposal of a subscription increase to £110 was agreed. It was also agreed that the proceeds of the £1 per member per week raffle of a whisky miniature should go to club, rather than charitable funds.

Concern was expressed about the ever increasing cost of subs to Rotary GB&I, with an estimated increase from £951 to £1,156 in the coming rotary year. Subscriptions to Rotary GB&I and District 1230 in 2017-18 amount to nearly 75% of estimated expenditure.

Derek Hall and Alastair Wilson were elected ordinary members of the Club Board for 2017-18; David Arthur was re-elected as an Honorary Member; Linda Harvey, Derek Bowman and Phil Hopkinson were re-elected Associate Members, and Denis Taylor was elected an Associate Member from July 1. Ron Dunachie was re-appointed Accounts Examiner.

A Junior Vice-President has still to be found. The appointments of committee chairman Bill Deans (Community and Vocational), Douglas Dow (International), Alastair Wilson (Foundation), and Jack Rudram (Youth Service) were confirmed.

Incoming President Gordon Burgess and Incoming Senior Vice-President Mike Jane were elected to serve on the District Council for the coming year, with the Secretary and Junior Vice-President as substitutes.
