What an interesting and reveasling presentation this was. The subject of dementia is often presented as a single topic and here we were shown that there are in fact many variations in the way that our brains can degenerate.
Although a complex area of research, this presentation was given at a level which made sense to all and was also given with a clear passion to achieve. It would apear that the work being carried out in Lancaster University MIGHT result in the arrest of the degenerative process in some of the people who are afflicted with this frightening prospect. Good luck for that.
But there is another arm to the work being carried out, and that is the care and support of those who are suffering from the effects of dementia, both the individual and their carers, and this is being addressed by the establishment of support centres. In our area it is the drop in centre.
A great cause and a the drop in centre will welcome anyone who needs help or advise.
