Significant Dates

6/5/81 First (information) meeting of the proposed "Fareham Knights" evening Rotary Club at The Limes Hotel
21 potential new members attended.
Meeting organised by David Jones (Assistant District Extension Officer) of Fareham Club, meeting chaired by PDG Neville Bradley (District Extension Officer), DG Mike Swinburne also in attendance.
27/5/81 The name 'Fareham Meon' adopted.
May/June/81 Six further weekly planning meetings at The Limes Hotel.
26/6/81 Inaugural Meeting of 'The Proposed Rotary Club of FAREHAM MEON' at the Titchfield Community Centre - 34 interim/inaugural members attended.
They approved and signed 'The Inaugural Resolution', and elected the club's interim officers and council.

Rotary GB&I President's Representative - PDG Geoffrey Pike. DG 111 - Mike Swinburne (Fareham Club). District Extension Officer - PDG Nevill Bradley.
Sponsor Club - Fareham - Pres John Landaw.
July'81/Jan'82 Thereafter weekly 'Interim Club' meetings at The Limes Hotel, Catisfield.
22/10/81 Application for RI Membership signed and sent to RI.
4/11/81 Club Charter signed by RI.
29/1/82 Club Charter Dinner at the Meon Valley Golf and Country Club, Shedfield
25 of the 29 founder members attended, plus 116 guests.
[of the 34 interim/inaugural members - 1 had died and 4 did not join].
Nov 82 unsuccessful attempt to twin with R.C. Fe-Camp, France.
30/3/83 Club "passed out of care" - 29 members.
1983/84 Club President Eric Proctor awarded 'RI Presidential Citation' for achievement in the Rotary Year.
14/3/84 First twinning visit to Le Mans Berengere Club.
24/10/84 Meetings moved to Maylings Manor Hotel - 35 members.
16/1/85 Club 'Charitable Trust Fund' created (Trust Deed dated 1st October 1984).
1/7/98 Meetings moved to Cams Hall Estate Golf Club - 40 members.
May 99 Bryan Gudgeon (founder president of club) inducted as the club's first Honorary Member.
April 01 all clubs became "dual gender" by RI constitutional change.

Rotarian Brian Ray elected District Governor of District 1110.
Aug 02 First planning meeting for sponsoring R.C. Fareham West (Whiteley).
18/3/03 Inaugural meeting of R.C. Whiteley.
2/5/03 Charter Night of R.C. Whiteley.
14/1/04 Club twinned with R.C. Madras.
1/7/04 Benjamin Cherian (PP of R.C. Madras and DG3230 Madras) inducted as the club's second Honorary Member.
6/06 PP Bob Taubman awarded the RI President's "Four Avenues of Service Citation" for his outstanding efforts for the objects of rotary.
6/07 whole Club awarded the RI "Presidential Citation" for work in the four avenues of service.
