Our 2017 visit was to Dublin, a place our club visited several years ago. We elected to go to Ireland because after his operation our president was not allowed to fly and we could take a ferry there...subsequently he was given the all clear and we were able to take a Ryan Air flight there.
Looking at the clubs in Dublin, we elected to visit Rotary Dublin Central (meeting on Monday evening) - however they cancelled their meeting in order that they could attend the charter presentation of a new Rotaract Club at University College Dublin, sponsored by Rotary Dublin Fingal.
At the college the presentation took place in the All Faith's Centre and was attended by representatives from Rotary District 1160, Rotary Clubs in Dublin and Rotaract Dublin, as well as a lot of students and youg staff members from UCD.
Afterwards, we took in the sights of Dublin visiting Trinity College to see the Book of Kells, the Guiness Brewery which has a stupendous viewing area on the top floor with incredible vistas of the entire city of Dublin. That was followed by a visit to the Jameson Distillery (bit of a theme here), a night time bus trip and evening entertainment at an Aussie Comedy club bar and an irish Night in an hotel on the banks of the Liffey.
